Our services for film crews

Our hotel gained the Film Friendly status as the result of a training program organized by Finnish Lapland Film Commission during the spring 2011. It means that our personnel have knowledge of the special needs film crews may have and is willing to accommodate them as thoroughly as possible.

Welcome to film in Finnish Lapland at the northern Arctic Circle – here at Rovaniemi you can experience all the four seasons of the year!

Rovaniemi is the capital of Lapland in Finland, located at the northern Arctic Circle. It has old traditions and amazing variety attractions. The city is a fabulous holiday and conference destination as well as the hometown of Santa Claus.

Rovaniemi can be reached by plane, by train and by car. The distance between Rovaniemi and the capital of Finland, Helsinki, is 830 km which by plane this means about one hour.

Accommodation services

Hotel Santa Claus is located at the heart of Rovaniemi (15 min from airport, 5 min from railway station) in the Kalotinlinna shopping Centre. It is a warm hotel of high standard that offers easy access to a wide range of cultural points. Despite the central location the unique Lappish nature is only stone´s throw away. The hotel is also ideal for incentives and special interest groups, holiday makers and people travelling for business.

Total 167 rooms offer a wide range of different accommodation alternatives. The room types are standard, superior, deluxe and suites. Some of the rooms are equipped with sauna and balcony; some rooms are connecting. All the rooms are twin rooms but can also be used as single rooms. Use of the sauna department and buffet breakfast are included into the prices. The hotel is non-smoking hotel.

For a film crew we can book for example one of the accommodation floors private/or two floors: different room sizes and room types on the same floor. This arrangement ensures privacy and quietness for the crew.

Restaurant services

Special meal times can be arranged for film crews in our restaurants and meals can be served on the conference floor where the film crew could have their offices. Due to various restaurants in the same building, also different styles of foods (à la carte, bar, grill, snack etc.) can be arranged.

Meeting and conference facilities

There are 11 different size meeting rooms (16 m2 – 370 m2) which offer a wide range of alternatives for various occasions. Modern meeting equipment is available in each meeting room. Conference floor (-1st floor) can be booked as private.

On the conference floor, the film crew can have their offices for example. Three of the meeting rooms can be joined together to a big office of 250.5 m2. Filming equipment can be moved to the offices via garage (reachable with a big truck).

Other services

WIFI is available within the whole hotel; internet point is located in the lobby.

There are two car parking sites: one is on opposite side of the street and there is a warm garage in the basement including 55 places and a self-service car washing point. Extra electricity can be placed in the garage. Max height of vehicles on the -2^nd floor is 2.1 meters but the -1^st floor is accessible for much higher vehicles for example trucks. There is a lift from -2^nd floor to the other floors. There is a direct connection from the garage to the conference floor (-1^st floor).

There are two lifts in the hotel. Cars and busses can stop in front of the hotel (max 6 busses at same time).

We can offer services in three difference locations: in the city of Rovaniemi in the Hotel Santa Claus and in the Hostel Rudolf (700 m from Hotel Santa Claus), in Saariselkä (270 km north-east from Rovaniemi, 3 h drive) Hotel Tunturi with 260 rooms and apartments as well as in the Levi resort luxurious log cabins (170 km north-west from Rovaniemi, 2 h drive).
